hi this is Tristan from heart rate monitor kETK and it is my short video review of the Garmin 435 the Garmin Forerunner 35 is Garmin’s latest GPS sports watch with off the wrist heart rate technology and also 24/7 activity tracker also features built-in GPS the faller 35 is aimed at people who primarily run everybody who runs whether it’s a club level athlete or just a casual jog around the park then the 435 is going to be suited to you if you’re very technical than that then you might want to look at something like the for 235 or the for 6:30 but for most people interested in distance pace auto lapping and even features like setting them interval training and heart rate zone control then the 435 this is spot on okay the purpose of my reviews is just to quickly walk you through the products so if you’re thinking of only one yourself you’ll know what it can do and what to expect from it ok now good quality as with all Garmin products nice and flexible most software strap super-bright clear display very similar to something like the Garmin and so the polar and 200 by paula m400 and nothing like unfortunately a slightly disappointing display of the polar and 200 so nice bright clear display there’s four buttons there’s no touch screen you want reduced but access features and functions you press the buttons what I’m just going to do is go through all the main keys the main functions of the watch to give you a good idea of how it works what it does top right button is the backlight I press that now you’ll see the backlight saw that stays on for about five C seconds when you’re training you can set it to stay on throughout the session like back on man the bottom right button take you to settings when you’re from time of day any other time you somewhere it will take you back backs time of day top right hand button takes you to exercise mode when you select from one of your five sports profiles and the bottom right hand button takes you through the main functions and features of the watch which I’ll go through in detail in a second on the display we can see I’ve got the daily alarm set which is a top left i’ve got about 75 cent battery and bluetooth connected because i’m connected up to my smart phone app using garmin connect obviously time of day date and move bar that’s a move bow on the bottom which tells me that currently i have not moved for an hour and a half because i’ve been preparing this video and doing this video so the key features again of this for intensifies built-in GPS wrist based heartrate 24/7 activity tracker and smart phone connection for smartphone alerts and data upload and download so there’s an activity tracker these my stats for today so far i’ve walk one time six and fifty two steps my goal is 7,500 which is connected on my handlebars I don’t have to wear a chest strap if I turn that on there it will send my heart rate off my wrist while I’m cycling to the Garmin edges on my handlebars I think it and transmits an empress but I’ll put a message on the display to confirm that the watch is recording my heart rate 24/7 if I set it so and that then can be set ascent to the connect app which will give me an average daily average maximum and also heart rate graph throughout 24/7 of every single day bear in mind it’s not a medical device it’s just for activity tracking and exercise intensity dragging is not a medical device if you look at the medical devices and the none of these products in medical devices so let’s go down smartphone notifications they’ve got non course you have an incoming call I can accept or reject with the button on the side I just put one let’s just make a quick phone call to myself we’re coming in a second calories is your daily calorie burn and I’ve got rest and active word yet again you need to be connected to your phone and when I’m gone and connect up and you’ll get your latest weather forecast both there’s an hourly one there and that’s the current forecast okay I think that was it all the main screen and now we’re going to go into exercise mode which is the top right there’s five sports profiles cardio walk run outdoor running door and bike when you first set this up on Garmin Connect you can choose the level of training abs you can hit a one two three or four training pages per sports profile and on each chain page you can choose whether it’s one two three or like one two or three lines of display per page and then you then set the metrics yourself once you’ve done that you then still actually have the ability to change those in the watch as you can see here you have to go state fields but you can only change the actual data fields of the training pages you can’t add training pages and you can’t change the number of metrics per page so I already set this to be three lines on this list view and on page two that’s been set to two lines so I can change the data that’s being viewed but I can’t change the number of training pages or the number of lines per view if you want to do that you need to do it on Garmin Connect so still very flexible a lot more than most other brands don’t even give you give you anything that you can change on the watch for each of these five sports profiles most watches just so that you go into it and then you start but only 435 it’s very flexible you can choose other options before you start so if you’re doing something a little bit of hoc and not what you normally do then you can set intervals you can either do what you’ve done previously or you can edit and create a new set which shows here the interval time the rest time to repeat the move repeats and the warm up in the cooldown time or you can set alerts like hard way to learn distance alert if I want to train with in a heart rate zone I can select it here or let’s say for example I want to say alert when I’ve done a distance of two half miles and you can set things like your auto laps can all be set here from the watch when you start a training session you get a reverse display so I now get a white background with black digits now I’ve set my watch so that when I’m training outdoors it’s got a black light always on which is what that currently has a lot of explodes brightening so you can’t really see where the backlight is firmly on that’s something you can set if you don’t want to do that you can have it turned off which obviously would help the battery lasts a little bit longer but the black journalist I found to be great I think I’ve probably had about I don’t know maybe a week using it for an hour an hour and a half a day and which is very good to be able to use it as an activity tracker and GPS and the heart rate for six or seven days is grade once your changes started you can flip through the different screens to things I like is always time of day which is brilliant so you don’t have to waste one of your training pages to set it up to give it time of day that’s always included it just flicks through that and also again press and hold the bottom right takes you to the music control which lets you – allows you to play and pause music and switch through your tracks now let’s just go back here to stop press s top right again which is the same as to start and now I can either resume save or discard so if you just want to break you can leave it like this for a few minutes and then press resume I’m going to press this card yes it’s being chopped away one thing I did forget to say is the music controller to show you how you can access it anytime you like by pressing and holding the bottom right hand button and that will then actually press play it will then start your music player in your phone so for me that will be got and google play google google music and then I can control the tracks from here as well I’m not going to spend too long looking at the actual app itself because it’s such a highly functional app it really is brilliant it does everything clearly as you can see it’s think with the watch because it’s showing both showing the same data therefore the for the steps one thing I’ll just quickly show you is the health stats and then we’ll look at all day heart rate and then we can look it and the listen so this is a four day heart rate here so anything that gets like that show is my maximum and average heart rate for the last seven days if you want to go into a particular date or going to yesterday I can see my heart rate throughout the day I didn’t wear the watch until about 9:00 a.m. which is there and see there’s a few spikes right at day as I’ve taken a dog for a walk or just a little jog around the block and then I finished off yesterday evening with a bike ride and then I can go into the black right here and get all my full training metrics and data information here all the summaries and the graphs of my speed and then a more detailed view of the heart rate and also elevation as well so it’s a brilliant that I’ve still not to use all the features and functions of it because it’s such such a comprehensive app but really good Garmin for under 35 highly recommended please please please check the prices at my shopping partners on the
